Aside from American Crime Story’s Versace series (seriously, how good is Darren Criss’ acting though) that I have been having a fixation with lately, dark wash denim is another thing that follows after. In fact, I have been having my eye on dark coloured denims ever since they caught my attention in quiet a few SS18 collections, namely Tom Ford and Max Mara. And I knew they are gonna make it big this season – talk about a woman’s intuition. Raf Simons’ designs for Calvin Klein’s 205w39nyc line (btw, I have had a hard time sticking this tricky name in my head) also made this underrated denim style ever so cool again.
As someone who is all for the denims-for-every-occasion idea, I have no reason to not darken my denim collection. Since this sharp fabric can be so versatile, as seen on the catwalks in the form of tailored pieces. There is a certain grown-up feel to dark denim that makes it a more refined choice for even formal events. I also wear a lot of denims growing up where dark wash jeans played a big role back then, so it certainly brings back some good old nostalgic memories there too. One of my all-time favourite denim brands sure got the memo ahead, as evidenced by their Le Raw jeans seen on yours truly here. It is a perfect pair to diversify your endless collection of mom and boyfriend jeans, yet still highly wearable.
